Biography
Jason McDonald has spent 34 years trading long/short equity and equity options, including 16 years as an investment bank proprietary trader and hedge fund portfolio manager. He began his career as a proprietary trader at BZW (now Barclays Capital) direct from Oxford University, and went on to run event-driven long/short portfolios at Credit Suisse First Boston, Commerzbank, Lehman Brothers and Toronto Dominion. A career highlight was serving as a senior trader on a €3 billion multi-strategy, multi-asset-class investment bank proprietary portfolio. His trading began in event-driven, special situations and risk arbitrage before developing into long/short equity and options relative value, culminating in trading several asset classes across the US, Europe, the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and South Africa. Today his focus is trading his own capital and teaching retail traders.
